A close friend of the A.M.Murugappa Chettiar, Sir Ivan Stedeford was instrumental in starting the TI factory and TII complex in India. As a mark of respect to this illustrious entrepreneur, the new Hospital to be run by the Trust was named after Sir Ivan Stedeford. The opening of the Sir Ivan Stedeford Hospital in 1966 on the Avadi - Ambattur Trunk Road marked a significant milestone in the history of the AMM Charities Trust (currently known as AMM Foundation).
