A group of like-minded people set out on a journey of healing. At a dinner hosted by the then Bishop of the Madras Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, H.G Zachariah Mar Dionysius, the guests included a number of prominent members of the church. A few days prior to this dinner, the Bishop had said in his sermon that he believed the community should contribute something significant to the society, which had hosted them for so many years.

From these noble ideals was born The Madras Medical Mission (MMM). Today, the Mission has grown by leaps and bounds and is known the world over for its state-of-the-art facilities, its top-notch doctors and the splendid work that it is doing—be it providing top-of-the-line medical care, service to the less fortunate in society or quality educational facilities. All thanks to the foresight of its pioneering members and the continued toil and dedication of its members. From its humble beginning, the institution has truly come a long way and has made a name for itself as one of the country’s premier medical institutions. Every day, a large number of people, both children and adults, experience medical intervention and care at the MMM. They walk in through the doors of the MMM as patients and walk out with a new lease of life. The swank, state-of-the-art campus of the Madras Medical Mission at Mogappair stands as a proud testimony to the realisation of those dreams.
